Blaisdell Programs in World Religions and Cultures
The Blaisdell Programs in World Religions and Cultures sponsors a variety of seminars, conferences and lectures aimed at increasing international understanding of the history and meaning of religion in eastern and western civilization.
The biennial Blaisdell Lecture series has included talks by Wilfred Cantwell Smith (Harvard) on the use of scripture in Judaism, Christianity, and Islam; by Muhammad Arkoun (the Sorbonne) on a comparison of the idea of revelation in Islam with that in Christianity and Judaism; by Takeuchi Yoshinori (Kyoto, Japan) on Buddhism and Christianity; and by Zwi Werblowsky (Hebrew University, Jerusalem) on traditions of afterlife, heaven, and hell in Christianity, Judaism, and Buddhism.
