Admissions:
Teacher Education
Currently, the CGU Teacher Education Internship Program offers course work leading to both the preliminary multiple subject and single subject credentials. Because the program is both a master's and a credentialing program, the CGU institutional degree requirements and the California State credentialing requirements must be met. Our credential analyst and other staff members will personally guide you through the details of your credential and degree.
Admissions Requirements
- Completed Claremont Graduate University application form, including the $60 application fee.
- Five page essay. Questions to be addressed are available from the Teacher Education Office.
- Reference letters from three persons including professors, supervisors, and persons who have knowledge of your previous work with children or youth.
- Official transcript from each college attended.
- Passing scores on appropriate state required exams for teachers. (Booklets describing these exams, including registration forms, are available from the Teacher Education Office).
- Personal interview with a faculty/staff member in the Teacher Education Internship Program.
An application packet is available from the Office of Teacher Education. Deadline dates for applications are November 1st for spring admission and April 1st for summer admission. If you will be applying for financial aid to pay for some or all of your expenses, you are strongly encouraged to do so at the same time you apply for admission. Financial aid deadlines are often prior to admission deadlines and some important state grant opportunities require you fill out a FAFSA.
