Claremont National Scholars
A Unique Scholarship for Doctoral Students 
Whose Research Transcends the Disciplines

Scholarship recipients receive 
full tuition and a $20,000 annual stipend
for any Ph.D. program
at Claremont Graduate University

THE CANDIDATES:

• Will have performed at the highest levels academically

• Will have carried out innovative research that cuts
  across the disciplines
 
• Will have or expect to have a bachelor's or master's
  degree from a U.S. college or university by fall 2008

Your candidacy as a transdisciplinary scholar will be considered based on your nomination from a faculty member at a U.S. institution you attended, as well as research and projects undertaken during your academic career, and your transdisciplinary research goals at CGU. By transdisciplinary, we mean migrating across disciplines as theoretical or applied questions demand; Or jumping boundaries between theory and application, as when addressing a problem outside the academy leads to new discoveries in academic terms.

Recipients of the 2008 scholarship must begin doctoral study at CGU in the Fall of 2008. Recipients must maintain full-time status to receive this scholarship. Current CGU students are not eligible for the Claremont National Scholars program.

Important rules and deadlines:

• All applications MUST BE RECEIVED by November 30, 2007.
 
• Please submit ALL application materials in A SINGLE ENVELOPE to:
         Claremont Graduate University
         Attn:  Admissions, Claremont National Scholars
         160 East Tenth Street 
         Claremont, CA  91711-6163

• Official copies of applicable test scores can be submitted separately and
  should be submitted to CGU directly from the testing agency. Test scores
  MUST BE RECEIVED by December 12, 2007.

• Award letters will be mailed to recipients on February 22, 2008.

• Recipients must make their acceptance decision by April 15, 2008.
