Pat Reif served the Immaculate Heart College, as professor of philosophy and chair of the religious studies graduate department. She founded the MA degree program in Feminist Spirituality in 1984 with the Immaculate Heart College Center, plus she co-founded the Southern California Interfaith Task Force on Central America (SCITCA) and the Interfaith Hunger Coalition. She worked on numerous social justice issues, from poverty to nuclear weapons, from domestic abuse to immigration and welfare rights. The lectureship in her name endeavors to continue her committed work to actively address the compelling problems of our time, to educate and empower women and men to envision answers to these problems.

Creation and funding of the Patricia A. Reif Memorial Lecture Fund is a joint effort of the CGU School of Religion, the Immaculate Heart Community, the Immaculate Heart College Alumnae Board, and the Immaculate Heart College Center. We have established this fund out of mutual respect and love for Pat, and we look forward to many years of cooperative effort advancing the ideals for which Pat stood.
