Test Scores

Applicants requesting institutional fellowship aid should take the tests in time for the results to be submitted prior to the priority deadline for completed applications.

GRE/GMAT/CBEST/CSET Guidelines:

  • Age of scores- GRE and GMAT scores more than five years old may not be submitted, they do not meet the requirements specified below. 
  • All students must submit scores from the general section of the GRE, except those indicated below.
        -  All Human Resource Design, Information Science, Financial Engineering, and Economics degree applicants must submit either GRE or GMAT scores.
  • The GRE subject section is recommended but not required for applicants to Economics & Psychology. The subject section should be taken in addition to the general section, not in lieu of it.
  • All Politics & Policy applicants (SPE and P&P) must submit GRE scores.
  • All MBA applicants must submit GMAT scores, not GRE.
  • Executive MBA, MA Management  (MA in Arts Management does require GRE) and MS in Advanced Management applicants are not required to submit GRE or GMAT.
  • Art and Teacher Education applicants are not required to submit GRE scores. The CBEST is required for all applicants in Teacher Education. Additionally, all applicants must submit passing scores on the appropriate CSET examination or a subject matter waiver letter in the area you are seeking your credential.  Note:  if you have previously passed Praxis or SSAT exams, you may not have to take the CSET.  Please contact the Teacher Education Program for further clarification or information.

TOEFL Guidelines: 

  • TOEFL scores more than two years old may not be submitted; they do not meet the requirement.
  • All applicants whose native language is not English and who do not hold a degree (or are not in progress to earn a degree) from a U.S. college or university must submit TOEFL scores. A minimum score of 80 iBT, 213 CBT, or 550 paper-based is required for admission to CGU.
    NOTE:  Admitted students who score below 100 iBT, 250 CBT, or 600 paper-based on the TOEFL will be required to enroll in the Global Communications Class at CGU in their first semester.
  • Applicants with permanent resident status or American citizens whose native language is not English may be required to take the TOEFL. If admitted, they may be required to take a non-credit English course, the Global Communications Course, during their first semester of enrollment.

As listed on the ETS website, our institution code is 4053. If asked to choose a department code, please choose the one that you think best fits your intended program. All scores are sent directly to the main admissions office regardless of the department code selected.
