CGU Partners with PCI to Create an Online and Print Alumni Directory as Part of an Alumni Connectivity Initiative
The Office of Alumni Engagement in conjunction with the Office of Advancement is working to strengthen the networking connections and opportunities within the alumni community. As part of this initiative, they are starting a data verification project and creation of a new printed alumni directory. This directory will help alumni connect with each other and the University.
The University has contracted with Publishing Concepts (PCI) to verify the accuracy of alumni data currently on file. PCI will begin mailing postcards and sending emails to alumni at the end of August/early September. The communication requests alumni to call a telephone number to verify or update their alumni profile. When alumni call, they will be offered the opportunity to purchase a printed or digital directory. You are under no obligation to purchase anything. Regardless of whether or not you purchase the directory, we thank you for updating your information. Your updates will appear in the FREE Online Alumni Directory.
This new alumni directory will be available in print and digital formats during the fall of 2019. PCI is a trusted partner of CGU and is strictly using the alumni contact information for this project only.
Verifying your profile information will help strengthen the CGU alumni network and provide important connections to career and personal networks. We need your help to make sure that your CGU network is strong.
Frequently Asked Questions
We have partnered with PCI (also known as Publishing Concepts) to produce our new alumni directory. PCI is a company located in Dallas, TX that publishes directories for educational institutions, fraternities, sororities, and military organizations across the nation. This project allows Claremont Graduate University to receive important updates to our database, so we know more about our alumni and how we can better serve you and future alumni.
Claremont Graduate University has a contractual agreement with PCI that states:
a. The names, addresses and information provided to PCI by Claremont Graduate University for the publication of the Directory will be held confidential by PCI, except to the extent that they are utilized in, or in the preparation of, the Directory and except as required by court order or law.
b. The Directory will be made available only to alumni of Claremont Graduate University. Upon completion of the project, PCI will return to Claremont Graduate University any and all electronic files that have been supplied by Claremont Graduate University or produced by PCI in connection with the production of the Directory.
No, we did not sell your contact information. PCI is strictly using alumni contact information for this project only. They are a trusted partner of hundreds of colleges and universities around the country.
CGU contracted with an outside vendor due to the internal resource capacity of the Office of Alumni Engagement. A third party staffing a phone bank gives us the resources needed to continue strengthening the CGU network and ensures the directory is comprehensive, accurate, and completed on time.
Our last print directory was published many years ago, and this provides us the opportunity to better connect our alumni and ensure we have the most up-to-date information. Some people do not have Facebook or LinkedIn, but still want the ability to connect with their classmates.
Your participation in the directory project helps keep you connected to your alma mater and to your fellow CGU alumni.
Mail and email communications from PCI will begin in late August/early September 2018. All communications will include a toll-free phone number for you to call to verify your personal information. Once your information is updated, your name will be removed from future mail and email communications for the project.
If you have received a postcard or an email with a telephone number, you may call the number to speak with a dedicated representative for the Claremont Graduate University project. The representative will verify all the information we have on file for you and make any updates where needed.
If you have received an email with an embedded link, you may go to the online site to review your information. If you have questions, you may call PCI’s customer service desk at 1.800.982.1590.
PCI provides a phone number instead of a website, so they can have the human interaction to ensure accurate data verification and to provide the opportunity to purchase a directory.
The directory will include all CGU alumni unless they have specifically requested to not be in the directory. If you are in the online directory, you will be in the print one as well.
Absolutely. Please call the Office of Alumni Engagement at 909-607-9226 or email email@example.com.
PCI can still update your information for us but will honor your specific request to exclude all or parts of your biographical data from the publication.
The Claremont Graduate University Alumni Directory is available for sale only to Claremont Graduate University alumni.
Everyone will be given the opportunity to purchase his or her own copy of the directory. If you provide your information, your name will be listed regardless of whether you decide to purchase a copy.
The total duration of the directory project is about 12 months. Since we began the project in August 2018, the directories will be distributed in August 2019.
Call the PCI customer service help desk at 1-800-982-1590, and they will take care of this for you.
CGU has paid no money to PCI for this service. PCI, as a business, attempts to make revenue through the sale of directories.
