Reporting directly to the Drucker School of Management’s Associate Dean, the Associate Director for Career Strategy oversees the creation, implementation, and evaluation of career development programs, policies, and processes. The Associate Director provides leadership and supervision of Drucker career counseling services by engaging with students and providing them with resources that will prepare them for post-graduate career success.

The Associate Director will also partner with faculty to integrate career development opportunities into the curriculum while working closely with the Director of External Relations to establish and leverage employer relationships and partnerships. In addition, the Associate Director will be responsible for developing and managing student leadership development opportunities and compiling and reporting statistical employment data.

Because of the small, interwoven nature of the School, the Associate Director will work closely with the Associate Dean while supervising a Career Counselor and graduate assistants. The Associate Director will also work directly with staff from CGU’s Career Development Office, recruitment and admissions, programs, and advancement.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:
Individual must possess knowledge, skills and ability to be able to successfully perform the essential functions of the position, or be able to explain or demonstrate how the essential functions will be performed with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.

  1. Ultimately, the position requires a strong administrator who can function autonomously. Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills are essential.
  2. A demonstrated commitment to student development and sensitivity to diverse populations.
  3. Ability to motivate and assist students in developing long-term goals and coordinate this effort with faculty, staff, alumni and recruiters.
  4. Experience in assessment and evaluation, data collection, analysis, and report writing.
  5. Experience working across disciplines with faculty, colleagues, and managers.
  6. Must be a self-motivated, creative and innovative professional with the ability to solve problems with creativity and diplomacy.
  7. Strong management and leadership skills; Sound knowledge of budget and human resource management.
  8. Familiarity with MBA programs and with factors affecting MBA rankings and strategic program positioning.
  9. Knowledge of international student needs and visa requirements.
  10. Proficient in Microsoft Office products, and e-mail systems.
  11. Experience using technology in career planning and career services operations (Handshake) is preferred.
  12. Experience with MBACSEA, employment standards, and reporting.
  13. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, both verbally and in writing, and the demonstrated ability to interface comfortably with both the academic community and experienced business executives.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Master’s degree in business or related field preferred, or any combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and ability. Minimum five years’ experience in career development in a higher education environment. Additional education may substitute for experience or any combination of education and experience that provides the required skills and ability. Preference given for Advanced degree in student development, counseling, leadership, or management. The regular hours for this position are 8:30 am to 5:00 pm. Must be willing to work flexible schedule as needed, which will include some evenings and weekends. Overnight travel may be required. Must possess a valid California Driver’s License and meet CGU’s authorized driver’s requirements.
