2022 Claremont Graduate University Mormon Studies Conference: A Plurality of Scripture

Join us for the 2022 Mormon Studies Conference: A Plurality of Scripture: The Experience of Scripture in The Mormon Tradition and American Religion.

This year’s Mormon Studies Conference brings scholars of various American religious traditions together to consider the concept of “scripture.” It focuses on the concept of scripture in the Mormon tradition and in other American religions.

Scholars will explore questions including: What is scripture? A text that you read and memorize? An object that one carries? Something you enact?

Philip Barlow, Maxwell Institute For Religious Scholarship, will deliver the plenary address: The Brownlee Memorial Lecture – “We believe the Bible to be the word of God as far as it is translated correctly.” An exegetical sketch.
