Can the ancient Mesopotamian saga, Epic of Gilgamesh, lend itself
to transdisciplinary exploration?
As an initial response to a generous gift by Hazem Chehabi, CGU crafted a transdisciplinary course around artist Saad Yagan’s Gilgamesh series of paintings, studying the unique character of this collection and examining it from numerous perspectives. The course examined the Gilgamesh story, its modern discovery by scholars, and the impact of this discovery on its interpretation, as well as concepts of religion, masculinity, and gender revealed in the ancient text. Now, we share this extraordinary collection in a limited exhibit.
Join us for an opening reception as we celebrate the artist, his art, and the remarkable characters of the myth itself.
