CGU Art Open Studios 2024

Join the Art faculty and artists of Claremont Graduate University on April 28, 2024 from 12:00pm – 5:00pm PDT for CGU’s Open Studios!

One day a year, CGU Art opens its doors to the public where visitors get an inside look into the artists’ daily lives. Open Studios is an opportunity to meet our students, see their work, and have a conversation about their artistic practice. Curated exhibitions and artists’ spaces will be open all day, including a group exhibition of CGU’s graduating class in the East and Peggy Phelps Galleries.

CGU Art challenges convention, celebrates individual endeavors, fosters collaboration, and encourages making art that matters. The Art Department at CGU treats art as an enterprise that is intimately linked to the individuals who make it, often in ways that are not yet known to themselves or others. Its mission is to teach the artist to think clearly and deeply about what they are doing in the studio and what the results of their labors might be when exhibited out in the world.
The studios are spacious, light-filled, and are central to the program. Various styles of artwork are presented including painting, sculpture, pottery, photography, installation, conceptual, and interdisciplinary.
