Talk title: Impact of Political Capacity on Demographic Change and Economic Recovery

Talk Description:
Report on ongoing work that links political performance to economic recovery and demographic changes. This work introduces a new measure of political capacity that, no longer constrained by levels of development, provides a gross, systematic political assessment of a nation’s performance similar to that provided by GDP per capita for economics. The potential of this new approach is successfully tested with existing models of post war recovery and demographic changes. These early results strongly suggest that analyzing political and economic indicators substantially improve our understanding of long term development, reinforcing our conviction that IPE provides a superior platform for such assessments.
