Engaging Difficult Students (Free Preparing Future Faculty Workshop)

What is a difficult student? They can be rude and rebellious, loud and lackadaisical, disrespectful and disruptive. They can also be moody and marginalized or silent and sullen. Also difficult are introverted and introspective students, as are the creative ones. Over-confident and under-confident students are equally difficult. “DIFFICULT” then becomes a difficult descriptor. This workshop explores strategies to be observant, calm, and responsive in ways that give you the best chance to diffuse troubling patterns of interaction in your class and to proactively invite engagement.

Free to students across all majors and disciplines.
