Claremont Graduate University’s School of Educational Studies (SES) prepares future educators for the unprecedented challenges facing today’s K-12 and higher education climates. Our programs are flexible and designed to meet the needs of working professionals interested in linking theory and research to issues in the field of education.
CGU’s MA and PhD in Education degree programs offer dynamic instruction and research, a transdisciplinary teaching environment with nationally recognized faculty, and the broad teaching and learning resources of the Claremont University Consortium. In collaboration with SES faculty, students work to design a master’s or doctoral program to meet their career and scholarly goals.
The Urban Leadership PhD option offers students a unique, cohort-based program for working professionals, as they become practitioner-scholars studying real-life problems of practice and drawing on evidence to drive decisions that promote equity, social justice, and accountability, in order to foster systemic change.
From urban education to student affairs, educational policy to human development, and evaluation to teaching and learning, our programs draw on dynamic instruction, a multidisciplinary curriculum, and hands-on classroom experience to prepare graduates for successful careers across the educational enterprise.
