Join us to visit an Urban Leadership (UL) doctoral course, Education Policy for Urban Leaders. This class session will feature special guest speaker, Dr. Carl Cohn, former UL Director, well-known former Superintendent of Long Beach and San Diego, and current Executive Director of the California Collaborative for Excellence in Education. This course is a core UL course and is taught by the current UL director, Dr. Kyo Yamashiro.
The Urban Leadership PhD program seeks experienced school and district leaders, teacher leaders, policy makers, researchers, and others interested in bringing about systemic change in education. We believe that effective schools serve as important cornerstones in their community, and can help to enhance the vitality of those communities. Creating change throughout our educational system and meeting the challenges that the future holds requires ongoing reflection, inquiry, and adult learning. PhD students in our unique, cohort-based program become practitioner-scholars, studying real-life problems of practice, and drawing on evidence to drive decisions that promote equity, social justice, and accountability, in order to foster this systemic change.
Urban Leadership now offers courses both on-campus and at The Reef in Downtown Los Angeles, at times that are convenient to working professionals.
