Drucker School Dean Larry Crosby announces his retirement

Larry Crosby, dean of Claremont Graduate University (CGU’s) Peter F. Drucker and Masatoshi Ito Graduate School of Management, has announced his retirement, effective June 30.

Tom Horan director of CGU’s Center for Information Systems and Technology (CISAT) and co-director of the Transdisciplinary Studies Program has been selected to serve as the Drucker School’s next dean effective July 1.

Crosby led the Drucker School with honor and distinction. Over the past two years he guided the school through re-accreditation by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) focused the school’s strategy and expanded its footprint in the creative industries with the launch of the Center for Management in the Creative Industries and positioned the school to be a growing force in Southern California’s vibrant supply chain economy.

Crosby will work with Horan the Drucker School faculty and staff and a school-university working group over the next two months to ensure that the momentum he created at the school will continue to shape its success.

Horan has deep roots at CGU and cares deeply about the success of the Drucker School. He earned his master’s and doctoral degrees from CGU and has served on the faculty for more than two decades. As director of CISAT Horan grew student enrollments and created valuable connections with local and global business and technology leaders. He also has been the driving force behind CGU’s Big Data Initiative which has brought students and industry partners to the university.

As dean Horan also will remain director of CISAT serving in dual administrative roles. Under his guidance CISAT and Drucker faculties will explore natural synergies in academic programming while retaining the center’s distinction in offering technical masters and doctoral degrees. “
