CGU Speaks Out On Hate Crimes Against Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders

In light of this week’s tragic shootings of six Asian women (and two other victims) in Atlanta and an increase in hate crimes against Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders, the leadership team at Claremont Graduate University has issued the following statement:

*****

Dear CGU Community:

Claremont Graduate University is founded on equity, inclusion, and the celebration of diversity. Hate-fueled crimes against Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (AAPI) are abhorrent. Racism and xenophobia against any group cannot be tolerated. We encourage any of our students experiencing anxiety or concern to contact the Dean of Students for support here.

Faculty and staff may also utilize available resources whenever needed by visiting My Safe Campus here.

CGU is a better place for our students, faculty, and staff because of our diversity. We stand with our AAPI community against any violence, intolerance, or inflammatory rhetoric that divides our communities and nation.

CGU Leadership Team, Deans,
& Directors
