Debra J. Ringold is Research Professor of Marketing in the Peter F. Drucker and Masatoshi Ito Graduate School of Management.

Prior to joining the faculty of the Drucker School, Debra was JELD WEN Professor of Free Enterprise and Dean of the Atkinson Graduate School of Management at Willamette University. She was honored, by her Willamette University colleagues, as Administrator of the Year. Debra was also named the Exemplary Teacher of the Year for teaching excellence demonstrated at United Methodist schools, colleges, and universities across the United States.

Debra’s research has focused on the regulation of marketing activity by federal agencies, principally the U.S. Federal Trade Commission and U.S. Food and Drug Administration. Her publications have appeared in the Journal of Marketing, Journal of Public Policy and Marketing, and Journal of Advertising, among others. Debra received the Thomas C. Kinnear/Journal of Public Policy and Marketing Award for outstanding research.

As Associate Editor of the Journal of Public Policy and Marketing, Debra helped shape its editorial policies and procedures. She continues to serve on the editorial boards of the Journal of Public Policy and Marketing, Journal of Advertising, and Journal of Consumer Affairs. She was elected to the board of directors of the 36,000-member American Marketing Association and ended her long and varied service to the AMA as Chairperson of the Board.

Over the course of her career, Debra has served a number of corporate, public, and not-for-profit organizations in a consulting capacity. These include Anheuser Busch, State Farm Insurance, Hewlett Packard, U.S. Federal Trade Commission, Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, and U.S. Food and Drug Administration, among others. She was invited to join the U.S. Census Advisory Committee. During this appointment, Debra advised the Census Bureau on methods for improving participation in the Census, data collection, and communication of Census information to the public.

Debra earned a Bachelor of Arts in zoology and chemistry from Texas Tech University, an MBA in marketing and management from Southern Illinois University, and a PhD in marketing and statistics from the University of Maryland.
