Matt O’Connor is the associate director of admissions and external affairs for the master’s programs in Arts Management and Art Business, offered in partnership with Sotheby’s Institute of Art. In the role, Matt oversees all admissions and recruitment processes.
Matt arrived at Claremont Graduate University by way of the Office of Admissions at the University of California’s Haas School of Business. Prior to that role, Matt worked as an admissions reader at his alma mater, Pomona College, where he managed admissions evaluation for five applicant regions across the United States. He continues to stay connected to Pomona as an alumni interviewer and as a member of the Athletic Affinity Committee, a subcommittee of the Pomona College Alumni Board.
A champion of diversity in higher education, Matt is the founder of a nonprofit organization focused on education access and leadership development for underserved youth. He volunteers for several organizations focused on mentorship for at-risk youth, including Pomona Academy for Youth Success (PAYS) and Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID).
Matt holds a bachelor’s degree in Politics, Philosophy & Economics and Theatre from Pomona College. He’s a proud Claremont Graduate University alumnus, having received his Master’s in Business Administration from the Peter F. Drucker and Masatoshi Ito School of Management.
