[From The Wrap]

Ryan Seacrest Productions has appointed veteran television executive and producer Eugene Young as president.

Young will be responsible for managing and setting the strategic creative direction of the entertainment production company. He will report to chairman Ryan Seacrest on creative matters and to chief operations officer/financial officer Jeff Refold on business and financial matters.

“I’m excited to have Eugene join our team,” Seacrest said in a release. “He’s an extremely talented and accomplished television executive, as well as an experienced producer, with a keen understanding of the business — not just where it’s been, or even where we are, but most important, where it’s all going.”

The Emmy-award winner has produced, developed, adapted, sold, and managed shows including “American Idol,” “America’s Got Talent” and “The Price is Right,” among others. He called the move “the biggest opportunity of my career.”

Young was most recently a managing director at A. Smith & Co. Productions. Previously, he was the chief creative officer at Fremantle North America for four years.

Young earned a B.A. from Colgate University, an M.S. in Broadcasting & Film from Boston University, and an M.B.A. from Claremont Graduate University Drucker School of Management.
