Claremont Graduate University Professor Robert Klitgaard has just returned from Bhutan, where he met with the king, facilitated a government cabinet meeting, and led a handful of lectures and workshops for the country’s future leaders.

Klitgaard is widely considered to be one of the world’s leading experts on corruption, and he regularly gives presentations and advises government officials across the globe. He’s worked with more than 20 governments to date, including the Philippines, Colombia, the Czech Republic, Indonesia, and Malaysia.

Through his research and experience, he’s devised clear actions leaders can take to diagnose the causes of corruption and implement strategies and solutions.

On his most recent trip, Klitgaard shared lessons on the importance of collaboration across ministries, levels of government, and with the private sector. In addition to his three hour meeting with the cabinet, he led four days of workshops as part of the Royal Institute for Governance and Strategic Studies Senior Executive leadership Programme.

The trip was Klitgaard’s second to Bhutan this year. He travelled to the South Asia nation last spring to work with the country’s anti-corruption commission, address government ministers, and meet with King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck.
