“I never thought I’d find myself in a program that has such a heavy emphasis on leadership and its benefits. I couldn’t see myself learning as much in a different program as I’ve already learned here.”

Zackery Musselman considers himself a citizen of the world. He’s lived in Hungary, Brazil, Austria, and the Netherlands, all before turning 18, and has traveled to nearly 75 countries. He spent his high school years in Amsterdam, where he excelled as an athlete. Musselman received a handful of full-ride scholarships to play basketball at various NCAA Division I schools in the United States but injured himself his senior year and had to rethink his options.

Southern California became Musselman’s new home during his undergraduate studies, and is where he met his mentor, Vernon Stauble (PhD, Business Administration, ’81). Stauble studied under Peter Drucker while pursuing his doctorate at Claremont Graduate University. As he spent time with Musselman and understood his professional goals in marketing and leadership, Stauble encouraged him to gain a few years of work experience and follow a path similar to his own. Musselman took the advice. He worked for three years at a non-profit and then applied to the Drucker School.

Of all the benefits he’s enjoyed in the full-time MBA program thus far, Musselman calls faculty the highlight. He also appreciates the diversity of the student body and the various dimensions of learning, including open class discussions and real-life case studies rooted in Drucker’s philosophies.
