Chinazunwa Uwaoma

Chinazunwa Uwaoma is a research assistant professor in the Center for Information Systems and Technology (CISAT) at Claremont Graduate University. Uwaoma’s research borders on the application of emerging mobile technologies and embedded systems to improve the quality of life, education, and social interaction among the underserved strata of the society. Her other research interests include communication network designs and decision engineering.

Uwaoma received her MSc in digital technology and PhD in computer science from the University of the West Indies, Jamaica. Prior to joining CGU, she has been involved in research projects such as design and implementation of embedded security systems, and configuring smartphones to monitor chronic health conditions. Her desire and eagerness to share knowledge led to her engagement in teaching and training people of diverse backgrounds including undergraduates, graduates, as well as professionals on IT-related courses.

As a researcher, Uwaoma has authored a number of journal and conference articles. Her recent publications include: “Proposing a Decision Support System for Automated Mobile Asthma Monitoring in Remote Areas” in Information Technology for Development (2018) and “Certainty Modeling of a Decision Support System for Mobile Monitoring of Exercise-induced Respiratory Conditions” in Proceedings of the 51st Hawaii International Conference on System Sciences – HICSS (2018).
